Felipe supports National Library of Medicine’s MedlinePlus en español website. A journalist, he started his career in 2002 writing for Chilean newspaper El Mercurio, where he polished his pen writing on a wide range of issues, from sports to trade. Eventually he made his way to Washington, D.C., where he worked for a local Spanish language newspaper covering immigration right at the moment when rallies swept the nation demanding comprehensive immigration reform. At this time he also started editing the health section of the newspaper, gaining valuable insight in both the policy field as well as the medical. During his tenure as editor, the health section won a series of awards given by the National Association of Hispanic Publications.
